On Saturday, October 3, nine students from Howenstine Magnet High School and their teacher, Mr. Reyes, volunteered at the Gospel Rescue Mission men's shelter for the homeless. The students began their time by washing all the walls and windows in the facility. Also, the students served lunch and washed dishes after the meal. The students plan on doing further volunteer assignments at future upcoming events.

Howenstine Magnet High School is a service-learning school, where community service is incorporated into the curriculum.
