Davis Bilingual Elementary Magnet is one of TUSD’s exemplary First Choice schools. Beyond its curricular program, one of the major reasons it is so successful is that parents, teachers, local and extended families pull together to work for all students.
As an example, at the beginning of this school year, Safeway stores offered Davis an opportunity to raise $$ dollars for schools and an active PTA took full advantage of the “free” fundraiser. With the support of local Safeway managers, parents, teachers and families raised nearly $7,000 for Davis. This upcoming Monday, March 1st, Davis will receive a visit from Safeway’s Public Relations Director, Cathy Kloss, who will come from Phoenix, to present the school with a $1,000 bonus check for being one of the top 200 earners in the United States (out of 40,000 participating schools). The check will be presented to the school at a music assembly at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, March 1, 2010. The Davis community applauds Safeway for its generosity and its commitment to education.
