Superintendent's Committee:
The Superintendent will establish a committee of staff and
community members to review options and make recommendations
[to the Superintendent] for attendance boundary changes.
Criteria for selecting committee members
Committee members should meet one or more of the following
criteria:
- Be a neighborhood parent
- Represent a reasonable mix of the diversity and ethnicity
of the affected
community
- Be a staff member of one of the affected elementary schools
- Be an interested member of the community
Roles and Responsibilities of the Committee Members
- Attend committee meetings, expected to meet at least bi-monthly
for approximately five to six months.
- Develop a timeline for completing the committee's responsibilities
- Review data at affected schools
- current and projected student enrollment
- school building capacities
- student transportation
- feeder patterns to middle schools
- current and planned instructional programs
- natural and legal parameters such as
- neighborhood boundaries
- natural boundaries
- current and future subdivision growth
- ethnic mix
- Create options and recommendations that equitably address
enrollment
growth
- Short term
- Select options for disbursing portables at affected
sites
- Select options for re-distributing students at
alternate TUSD sites
- Other options
- Long term
- Select options for new school site
- Select options for boundary changes
- Other options
- Make recommendations of selected options to the Superintendent
Public Meetings
The Committee will hold at least two public meetings at which
they will discuss attendance boundary changes and hear public
comments. These meetings along with maps of the proposed attendance
boundary areas will be publicized on the district website
as well as through press releases and school communications.
