Grand Opening and Open House of TUSD's New Cultural Artifacts Museum and ARTSMobile Display, August 23

Treasures from TUSD's vast and nationally recognized multicultural artifact collection will be available for public viewing during the grand opening and open house of TUSD's new museum and newest ARTSMobile display.

The new cultural museum is housed at Mansfeld Middle School and will host elementary school field trips during the school year. The public is invited to a rare viewing of the museum during the grand opening and open house on Thursday, August 23. The museum's premier exhibit features "Treasures from India."

TUSD's new Native American ARTSMobile will also be available to the public at Mansfeld Middle School during the grand opening and open house. This display highlights TUSD's collection of artifacts from the Hopi, Apache, and Navajo cultures.

Through the Educational Materials Center, TUSD's Fine and Performing Arts department houses over 10,000 multicultural artifacts from pre-historic eras through the present. The collection contains textiles, sculptures, wall hangings, costumes, tools, musical instruments, toys, and artwork from Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This collection has earned affiliation with the Smithsonian Affiliations program.
