Substitute Teacher Pay Scale

Substitute teachers qualify for the following pay scale depending on length and location of assignment:

	Pay
1. Base daily rate for substitute assignment.	$75 per day
2. Base daily rate for substitute assignment at specific schools*.	$85* per day
3. Long-term positions: A principal may elect to pay this rate when a substitute must assume full teacher responsibilities for over 15 days in a position [Pay is retroactive to day one of assignment.] Site must submit a PAF for authorization to appropriate leadership office. The PAF may be submitted prior to day 16.	$100.00 per day
4. After 40 days of pay in any certified substitute position, daily rate increases to $100.00 for days worked for the remainder of the school year. 40 day count begins new each school year.	$100.00 per day
5. Base rate for Certified TUSD Retirees.	$75/85* per day
6. For loss of planning period.	$10 per day
7. To obtain pay for travel between two sites, substitutes must contact the Substitute Assignment Office.	$5 per day
8. Substitute Clerk Substitute Exceptional Education Teacher Assistant	$8.80/hour $8.80/hour

Rates subject to change

NOTE: There are NO provisions to authorize payment to substitute teachers for other categories, such as for supervision or overtime.

*Specific Schools

Positions at the following schools qualify for pay at the special rate (see 2 above).
