Technology Oversight Committee

Information

The Technology Oversight Committee is a voluntary committee of the Governing Board consisting of community and student members. Currently, there are no vacancies.

Commitments

The Committee's specific responsibilities and goals are:

  1. Serve as a forum for discussion of district technology plans and IT services.
  2. Make recommendations to the District staff and Governing Board on its technology plans to support educational needs, cost-effectiveness, and compatibility with projections of future technology needs.
  3. Make recommendations to the District staff and Governing Board on maintaining the progress of ongoing technology projects and in setting priorities for new technology initiatives and spending. 
  4. Make recommendations to the District staff and Governing Board to assure compliance with ADE (Arizona Department of Education) and CIPA (Children's Internet Protection Act) technology requirements.
  5. Select up to two members from the committee to serve on district RFP evaluation committees for technology purchases made pursuant to the district's technology plan.

The committee meets at least monthly and reports to the District's Governing Board annually, or more often as needed.  Student members are appointed for one year.  All Committee members are uncompensated and serve as volunteers.  For further information, please see the Charter for the Technology Oversight Committee (in Word | in PDF).

Qualifications

Applicants should have interest from a student’s point of view relative to one or more of the following areas:

  • Design and Management of data and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Deployment and management of servers and desktops.
  • Enterprise application software.
  • Educational Technologies and practices, including software.
  • Procurement of such products and services.
