If you choose a school through Open Enrollment, your child may be eligible for transportation.

If you reside in the attendance area of a school belonging to a different group from the school your child attends, then your child is eligible for transportation, providing you meet the following qualifications from Policy EEA, Student Transportation in School Buses:

  1. Students attending elementary school who live 1 1/2 miles or more from school.
  2. Middle school students or sixth grade students who are assigned to a junior high school who live at least 2 1/2 miles from school with no public bus service.

Example:

The Thompson family lives in the Howell attendance area (a group B school), and their daughter Susan has been accepted through open enrollment to attend Maldonado (a group A school). Because Susan will be attending a school in a different group than her attendance area school, and because this school is more than 1 ½ miles from her home, she is eligible for transportation.
