School Meal Programs - After School Snack Program

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides after school snacks to children after their regular school day ends when they attend some type of program. After-school snacks give children a nutritional boost and draw them into supervised activities that are safe, fun and filled with learning opportunities. The After School Snack Program is supported in part by the Federal Meals Program and a school program budget. The food component of the program is under the administrative direction of Tucson Unified School Districtís Department of Food Services. Program requirements include types of activities, times of service offered, and relationship to other meal programs. Some schools may be eligible to receive snacks free of charge for participating students.
