Emergency and Urgent Care

If you feel you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911; trained medical personnel will assist you while also determining if you should be taken to the Emergency Room.

For non-life threatening cases, use your doctor or clinic first before going to the Emergency Room.

You may also use the Walgreen’s Take Care Clinic or an Urgent Care facility.

Emergency Room Use
Under the prior Aetna plan, an Emergency Room (ER) claim could be denied if the ER was used for a non-life threatening emergency. This is still the case now that we have contracted with AmeriBen to process claims. In the event of an appeal, AmeriBen will contact the provider to obtain the medical notes. An unpaid/denied claim becomes the member’s responsibility.
